Rail, ship and road connections

Trier Harbour is connected directly to the hub station Trier-Ehrang, which today uses its infrastructure as a former marshalling yard for freight transport. All rail-specific services for freight transportation are offered by rail here, and from here freight is taken fast in all directions:

  • Trier – Cologne
  • Trier – Koblenz
  • Trier – Saarbrücken
  • Trier – Luxembourg
  • Trier – Metz / Paris / Lyon

Goods and freight can be transported on from Trier Harbour by diesel engine from track 80.

Trier Harbour has a direct connection to the major shipping route Saar (91 km) and Moselle (364 km), and from there to the European inland waterways network, for instance via the Rhine to the Main and Danube, as well as the major North German waterways to the east and west.

Trier is perfectly connected to the motorway network of the wider region and in south-west Germany. The harbour itself is accessible directly from the motorway without going through the town. From the Trier region, there are connections to seven motorways in all directions and all over Europe:

  • Trier – Cologne / Dortmund (A 1)
  • Trier – Koblenz / Gießen (A 48)
  • Trier – Frankfurt (B 50 neu)
  • Trier – Mannheim (A 1/62)
  • Trier – Saarbrücken / Strasbourg / Basel (A 1)
  • Trier – Luxembourg / Paris / Lyon (A 64)
  • Trier – Trier – Brussels / Antwerp (A 60)
